Every year, the members and alumni of The National Society of Pershing Rifles have their National Convention. The highlight of the event is the annual John J. Pershing Memorial Drill Competition. The event offers those in the local area the unique opportunity to see the best in American youth in action. The competition begins with a Pass In Review at 8:30 a.m. and ends with the presentation of awards when the competition is complete (approximately 2:30 p.m.). The Pershing Rifles drill teams compete in several categories, including regulation drill, exhibition drill and individual drill, as well as color guard. One exciting competition is the IDR Knockout in which anyone in the competition can participate. The judges give a drill command and those who don’t do it correctly are eliminated until only one person is remaining.
